Please enter the building and walk up the steps to the Promenade Level. Look for the City Tour Detroit office/store (Suite 250). Check in there.

Tour length is approximately 45 minutes.

The tour highlights key areas of the Guardian Building, including the breathtaking Art Deco lobby, the elegant promenade, the building’s striking exterior, and the historic lower-level vault area.

Occasionally areas of the building are rented out for private events – especially in the Summer & Fall, so we aren’t able to offer tours on those days.

In most cases, we’ll ask you to wait for the next tour.

If you can find nearby street parking, you’ll need to download the ParkDetroit app. The Buhl Garage, located across the street, usually offers weekend parking for $10. That price is subject to change when there are special events. Online parking aids such as www.parkwhiz.com can help you find parking.

The tour is accessible for most guests. However, please note that on all tours, visiting the former vault area requires descending approximately 25 steps, and there is no elevator access to that portion of the tour.

The rest of the building, including the lobby, promenade, and exterior areas, is fully accessible during weekday tours. On weekend tours, the shop and promenade require climbing approximately 25 steps.

Yes! We offer private tours of the Guardian Building for groups, special events, or customized experiences. To arrange a private tour, please email us at tours@tourdetroit.com.
